Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a temporary suspension of gas supply in several areas of Karachi due to ongoing pipeline relocation work near Nipa Flyover.
According to a company spokesperson, the shutdown is being carried out to facilitate lowering of gas pipelines as part of infrastructure work requested by Trans Karachi. The project involves 16-inch and 20-inch high-pressure gas lines.
The scheduled interruption will take place between 10pm on Saturday night and 5am on Sunday morning. However, officials said technical work may continue until 8am if required.
During the shutdown, several key institutions and areas are expected to be affected, including Liaquat National Hospital, Aga Khan University Hospital, and Karachi Central Jail. Low gas pressure is also expected in the SITE Industrial Area.
Residential and commercial areas likely to be impacted include all blocks of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, PIB Colony, Jamshed Road, Lines Area, PHS Society, Saddar, parts of Khadda Market, Lyari, Garden and adjoining neighbourhoods.
SSGC advised consumers in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements in advance.
