RAWALPINDI: A soldier was martyred after terrorists opened fire from across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border near North Waziristan, the military’s media affairs wing said in a statement on Saturday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistani troops responded to the firing — on a military post — in a befitting manner, but Sepoy Umar Daraz, 32, resident of Jhang, received a bullet injury and embraced martyrdom.
“Pakistan has consistently asked Afghanistan to ensure effective management and control on their side of the Pak-Afghan Border,” ISPR said.
Pakistan strongly condemns terrorists’ continuous use of Afghan soil for activities against Pakistan, the military’s media wing added.
A Frontier Corps (FC) soldier had embraced martyrdom and two others sustained injuries during the cross-border fire from Afghanistan on November 3, 2020.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorists targeted a security forces border post in the Manzakai sector of Zhob from across the border in Afghanistan. As a result, a 22-year-old FC soldier, Naik Fakhr Abbas, martyred while two soldiers suffered injuries.
ISPR further said that Pakistan has been consistently raising the issue of effective border management on the Afghan side with Afghanistan authorities and keeping a check on cross-border terrorist incidents.
On October 17, 2020, a Pakistan army soldier embraced martyrdom while three others sustained injuries in a terrorist attack near Balochistan’s Turbat.
According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists opened fire on a security forces’ patrolling party near Jhaki post, 35 kilometers southeast of Turbat.
As a result, an exchange of fire occurred which resulted in the martyrdom of Lance Naik Waseem Ullah and injuries to three other soldiers, added the ISPR.
