Official reports from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on January 13, 2026, state that there is no possibility of snowfall in Lahore this season.
While viral social media claims recently predicted a “historic” cold wave and up to five inches of snow for the city between January 16 and 25, authorities have dismissed these reports as fake and unsupported by scientific data.
Lahore is currently experiencing a severe cold wave, with temperatures recently dipping as low as 4°C.
The city is under a persistent blanket of dense fog, which has significantly reduced visibility on motorways and delayed flights.
While snow is ruled out for Lahore, light rain is expected around January 20-23, and snowfall is only predicted for northern mountainous areas like Murree and the Galiyat.
Snowfall in Lahore is an extremely rare phenomenon.
The most notable recorded instance occurred on January 24, 1909. Since then, while the city has occasionally experienced heavy hailstorms (such as in February 2011), it has not seen actual snow accumulation.
