Slogans raised against PM Shehbaz Sharif in Madinah

MADINAH: A group of people surrounded a high-level delegation and raised slogan against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the holy city of Madinah.

A video that has gone viral on social media shows government officials and federal ministers being heckled by a group of people at the Mosque of the Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) in Madinah.

The raise ‘chor, chor’ (thief, thief) slogans against the prime minister. Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and Minister for Narcotics Control Shahzain Bugti can be seen in the video being led by a contingent of Saudi security forces.

Responding to the incident, Marriyum Aurangzeb lashed out at former prime minister Imran Khan for encouraging such incidents.

“I will not name this person on this holy land because I do not want to use this land for politics. What they have destroyed in the society, will rebuild it,” she said. “We have instructed our workers to control their emotions. This is the difference between them and us.”

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in the hold city of Madinah on a three-day official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He was warmly received by the Governor of Madinah Prince Faisal Bin Salman and high level Saudi officials.

Federal Ministers Bialwal Bhutto Zardari, Miftah Ismail, Shahzain Bugti, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Khawaja Asif, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, and MNAs Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Mohsin Dawar are accompanying the prime minister.

PM Shehbaz Sharif  paid respect at the Roza-e-Rasool (SAWW) in Madinah accompanied by his high level delegation. Later, he also offered Namaz-e-Maghrib at Masjid-e-Nabvi(SAWW).

The prime minister held a meeting with the Governor of Madinah Faisal Bin Abdul Aziz during which Pak-Saudi brotherly relations came under discussion. Both the sides agreed on further strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.

This is the prime minister’s first visit abroad after assuming office earlier this month. He will also perform Umrah in Makkah. During the visit, the prime minister will have bilateral interaction with the Saudi leadership on a range of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
