PESHAWAR: The Bacha Khan University in Peshawar has issued a new dress code for the students, faculty and administration staff working there.
According to a local newspaper, female students and staffers have been asked to wear a black abaya, scarf and shalwar kameez instead of skinny jeans, tights and t-shirts. Excessive makeup, jewels, fancy purses and high have also been forbidden.
The University’s Vice-Chancellor (VC), Prof. Dr. Bashir Ahmed, presided over the ninth Academic Council meeting in which he issued directives mandating female students to wear black abayas.
Meanwhile, the male students have been directed to wear plain shirts with either blue or black dress pants, clean winter shalwar kameez, dark blue vests or coats, sweaters, and plain jackets. Wearing a student identification card was also made mandatory.
Similarly, the faculty has been directed to wear neat, clean, and presentable attires with black gowns, and to wear their university identification cards around their necks.
In addition, the VC has also called for careful arrangements to be made for students to learn the Holy Quran with detailed translation within the university so that they can learn its basic guiding principles and become true preachers of Islam.
