KARACHI: At least six people sustained injuries in an explosion at a bus terminal near Karachi’s Shireen Jinnah Colony today (Tuesday).
According to details, the local residents shifted the wounded persons to the nearby hospital using public transport as no rescue workers rushed to the scene immediately.
DIG South Javed Akbar Riaz has confirmed that the explosion was occurred due to explosive material as no piece of the gas cylinder was recovered from the affected site.
One among injured persons is in critical condition due to serious injuries. Later, the bomb disposal squad (BDS) officials were summoned at the crime scene to ascertain the genre of the blast.
“A bomb was installed at the gate of the terminal,” DIG south said, adding that the bomb contained ball bearings and was detonated with a remote control device.
Initially, it was suspected to be a cylinder blast but then the police found ball bearings from the site. The police and Rangers have reached the site and cordoned off the area.
