Sindh’s new S4 project, equipped with advanced artificial intelligence cameras, has enabled the recovery of more than 150 vehicles snatched or stolen from Karachi.
According to police officials, around 200 suspects including a woman have been arrested on charges related to vehicle theft and snatching.
Police sources said the state-of-the-art AI cameras, capable of recognising faces and number plates, have been installed at entry and exit points of various cities.
Data of all stolen vehicles from Karachi, along with information on wanted suspects, has been fed into the S4 system’s central databank.
Officials stated that as soon as a stolen vehicle or suspect passes through these routes, the AI cameras automatically flag the alert.
The recently established Sindh Police Highway Patrol then intercepts the vehicle, arrests the suspects and recovers the stolen property.
Police say the system has significantly improved the tracking and recovery of stolen and snatched vehicles across the province.
