KARACHI: The Sindh Education Department today (Thursday) announced that the exams for grade 9-10 (matriculation) will be held from July 5, 2021 while grade 12 (intermediate second year) exams will be conducted from July 25.
According to a notification issued in this regard, the exams for grade 11 (intermediate first year) will take place after the conclusion of the grade 12 exams.
As per the earlier decision of the government, examinations will only be held for the elective subjects, while practical exams will not be conducted.
Sindh Minister for Education Saeed Ghani said that the exam will be based on a 60% condensed syllabus. The minister said that the exam paper will be based on 50% MCQs, 30% short questions, and 20% long questions.
To a question, he said that there was a shortage of teachers in Sindh and the government would recruit 37,000 teachers through a test by the Institute of Business Administration-Sukkur but there was some delay in the process due to prevailing COVID-19 situation.
He said that after the increase in coronavirus cases in the province, the government unwillingly made difficult decisions so that the spread of the virus could be contained.
“Now some political parties only want to score points on the back of traders to oppose the recent measures but they are actually not doing any service to people,” said Mr Ghani.
