The Sindh government has finalized arrangements for the closing of financial year 2025-26 accounts, with all departments directed to complete payments and submit bills by June 10, according to officials in the Finance Department.
The current financial year’s budget will be formally closed on Wednesday, with the cut-off time ending at midnight. Officials said no new or pending bills will be accepted after the deadline.
To oversee the closing process, the Sindh Finance Department has appointed monitoring officers to supervise activities at district finance offices across the province.
The monitoring process will begin on June 10, with section officers of the Finance Department deployed to finance offices in all districts.
Officials said the decision to conduct physical monitoring was made following concerns about token-punching cases and to ensure transparency during the year-end financial closing process.
According to the directives issued by the Finance Department, all district finance offices have been instructed to clear outstanding payments by June 10. No funds will be released for new bills until pending liabilities have been settled.
Officials said routine financial transactions of the Finance Department would effectively cease after the closing deadline as part of the year-end accounting process.
Under the prescribed procedure, any unspent budget allocations by government departments will be surrendered to the Finance Department on June 30.
