KARACHI: The Sindh government today (Sunday) has revised the model of Karachi’s Mahmoodabad Nullah, informing that NED University has completed a detailed survey and its study.
A provincial Coordination Implementation Committee meeting was held in the chair of Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah. Talking at the occasion, CM Sindh informed that 12 feet wide road and three feet footpath will be established on both sides of the nullah, adding that with the construction on the nullah as many as 56 houses will be affected.
The CM ensured that the provincial government will not let affected people alone. He asserted that said that the cleaning of nullahs and their remodeling will end the risk of urban flooding.
Meanwhile, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) marked has encroachments along the Mehmoodabad and Manzoor Colony nullahs in Karachi. The KMC has started widening the stormwater drains on the orders of the Supreme Court.
It marked houses, shops, and markets constructed illegally on both sides of the drains. The spokesperson requested the occupants to vacate these places to avoid any losses.
