KARACHI: Sindh Education and Labour Minister, Saeed Ghani has announced to delay the resumption of on-campus classes for grades one to eight in the province from April 21 by 10 more days amid rising COVID-19 cases.
On a social media website Twitter, Saeed Ghani said that the academic activities for classes one to eight could, however, be continued through online platforms, homework provided from schools, and other mechanisms which included limited person-to-person interaction.
However, he announced resuming classes for ninth, matric, and intermediate students in schools and colleges with 50 percent attendance at a time. The educational institutes should ensure strict COVID-19 SOPs in the schools and colleges, the education minister directed.

Earlier in the day, Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood Sunday announced important several decisions regarding the reopening of educational institutions and holding examinations.
The minister took shared the decisions taken during a meeting of the health and education ministers of all four provinces and Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.
The minister said classes of grades 9-12 will begin in affected districts in a staggered manner so students can prepare for their upcoming board exams.

“A special meeting of Health and Education Ministers of all provinces and AJK/GB was held today. The following decisions were taken with complete consensus. 1) Classes 9 to 12 would commence in affected districts in a staggered manner to allow students to prepare for Board exams,” he tweeted.
It was also decided with complete consensus among ministers that A, AS, O level and IGCSE exams will take place as per date sheet announced by CAIES. There will be no delay or cancellation. Those students wishing to take exams in Oct/Nov can do so in the same fee already paid
