KARACHI: Sindh government has fixed flour price at Rs65 per kg in the province, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon announced on Wednesday.
Sindh Information Minister said retail price of 10kg flour bag had been fixed at Rs650 while one kg flour will be available at Rs65 in the retail market.
The ex-mill price of flour will be Rs64 per kg and Rs640 for the 10kg.
It is worth mentioning that due floods destruction, most of the wheat crops were damaged which resulted in astronomical hike in flour prices across the country.
Moreover, incompetence of Pakistan Peoples party’s Sindh government led to destruction of over 1.6 million tons of wheat stock stored in the government warehouses in Larkana division.
The Sindh government failed to protect 600,000 tons of wheat stored in a warehouse along with a million of wheat lying open under the sky in Larkana district from rains.
Sindh already experiencing unprecedented high flour prices, it is anticipated that flour costs, which are now being sold at Rs120 per kg due to damage to the wheat stock, would reach Rs200 per kg in the near future.
