Pakistan, Plug and Play sign LoI to connect startups with global innovation network

In a major development for Pakistan’s startup ecosystem, the government has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Silicon Valley-based Plug and Play Tech Center, one of the world’s leading startup innovation platforms, paving the way for the company to launch operations in Pakistan.

According to an official statement, the development came during a meeting between Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal and Plug and Play Tech Center Founder and Chief Executive Officer Saeed Amidi. The two sides discussed opportunities to strengthen Pakistan’s startup ecosystem and connect local entrepreneurs with global innovation networks.

During the meeting, Plug and Play expressed its interest in partnering with Pakistan, saying it aims to support the growth of up to 300 startups affiliated with the country’s leading universities.

The company also plans to connect Pakistani entrepreneurs with its network of more than 600 global corporate partners and help startups achieve product-market fit, attract investment, and expand internationally while maintaining their core operations in Pakistan.

Under the signed Letter of Intent, the groundwork has been laid for establishing Plug and Play’s operations in Pakistan, with proposed offices in Islamabad and Karachi. The company also shared examples of its successful partnership models implemented in Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Germany, and several other countries.
