ISLAMABAD: Chairman Kashmir Committee Shehryar Khan Afridi has submitted an application with Election Commission, saying that he may be allowed to recast his vote as he put his signature on the ballot papers instead of putting numbers.
According to the letter, the PTI leader said that he had been unwell for the past few days and could not attend party meetings to understand the procedure. “When I approached your staff for casting my vote they failed to guide me. Later I put my signature on the ballot papers instead of putting numbers,” the application read.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed anger after Shehryar Afridi was unable to give a satisfactory explanation in this regard. “We told everyone how to cast vote. You are an MNA, how can you not know the procedure of vote casting?” PM said.
Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued a second ballot paper to former President Asif Ali Zardari after his first ballot got wasted. The PPP co-chairman asked the commission to issue him another ballot paper as due to his hand tremors he made a mistake on his first one.
