Shehbaz, Bilawal demand world community to take action on Kashmir issue

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari have urged the international community to take all cases of human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
In a message on Youm-e-Istehsal, Shehbaz demanded the United Nations (UN) take action for self-determination of people living in Indian occupied Kashmir.
Shehbaz Sharif said that depriving Kashmiris of their democratic and legal rights is against the Charter of UN. Indian atrocities cannot hold back Kashmiris from the freedom movement, the PML-N leader added.
Meanwhile, in his message in connection with the Youm-e-Istehsal, Bilawal said that the military siege of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) would not conquer the aspirations of people of the bleeding valley.
Bilawal said that the world community should use its leverage on the apartheid state of India to end the year-long siege and give access to the international human rights monitors in the occupied territory.
He further said that the silence maintained by the international community over Indian atrocities in IOK had raised the concerns of human rights activists worldwide.
The PPP leader urged that the international community should wake up from slumber and force India to lift the siege by allowing the free exercise of the right to self-determination to Kashmiri people.
Youm-e-Istehsal was observed on Wednesday to express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri people on completion of the one-year military siege of IOK.
On 5th August last year, the special constitutional status of Occupied Kashmir was scrapped by the Modi government and a debilitating communication blockade has been imposed ever since.
