ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) chaired by Federal Minister for Finance Shaukat Tarin will be held today in which approval is likely to be given to the Election Commission to provide additional Rs 18.36 billion for review of local body elections and electoral rolls.
According to details, the ECC of the Cabinet, chaired by Tarin, will take important decisions today while reviewing the eight-point agenda, including approval of funds and other payments to the Election Commission.
The Economic Co-ordination Committee meeting chaired by the Finance Minister was attended by Election Commission, Ministry of Housing and Works. A total of over Rs. 18.5 billion in technical supplementary grants and funds will be approved by the Ministry of Aviation and Defense.

The ECC will also consider providing technical supplementary grants of Rs. 671.27 million. It may be recalled that earlier the ECC of the Federal Cabinet was reconstituted, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin was re-appointed as Chairman while the notification of reconstitution was issued by the Federation.
Prime Minister Imran Khan reconstituted the ECC in December last year and re-appointed Shaukat Tarin as chairman. The Cabinet Division has issued a formal notification regarding the appointment of Senator Shaukat Tarin as Chairman.
