KARACHI: Shahrukh Jatoi, convicted in the 2012 murder of 20-year-old Shahzeb Khan, was moved from Central Jail to a private hospital, several media outlets reported on Monday while quoting sources.
According to details, Shahrukh Jatoi was shifted to a private hospital since long. “The hospital was established by Shahrukh’s influential father in a residential bungalow, sources have claimed.
Sources have claimed that Shahrukh Jatoi was residing in the bungalow on the first floor, which is furnished with all facilities.
“The accused also receives friends while separate personnel have been arranged for his security,” he added. Meanwhile, Sindh health department has expressed its ignorance about shifting Shahrukh Jatoi, to a private hospital.
An anti-terrorism court had sentenced Shahrukh Jatoi and his friend Siraj Talpur to death in June 2013, while two other co-accused Lashari and Sajjad Talpur were given life imprisonment for killing 20-year-old student Shahzeb Khan on Dec 25, 2012 near his house in the Defence Housing Authority.
The killing of young Shahzeb had sparked widespread protests by civil society and the then chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry had also taken suo motu notice of failure of the police to arrest the killers, including Jatoi who had escaped to Dubai.
Two eyewitnesses had deposed before the trial court that Lashari, an employee of the Talpurs, had teased a sister of the victim and after having arguments with him the accused chased and shot him dead.
