Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the Chairman of the Awam Pakistan Party, has criticized the government for attempting to stifle freedoms through the PICA (Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act).
The former PM Shahid Khaqan stated that a country that shuts down the internet cannot progress. According to Abbasi, PECA is being used to suppress freedoms, and he also highlighted that the alliance between the PPP and PML-N is one of mutual interest.
Meanwhile, during a press conference in London, Miftah Ismail remarked that overseas Pakistanis, following an appeal from the founder of PTI, had not stopped sending money to Pakistan.
Ismail noted that although inflation had decreased in the country, the cost of living had continued to rise. He also criticized Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, claiming that he was only holding on to his position to save his seat.
Additionally, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, the leader of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, expressed concerns about the PECA Act, which stipulates a three-year jail sentence and a fine of Rs. 600,000. He questioned what the punishment would be for those who steal the people’s mandate.
