During a session at the International Urdu Conference titled “Main Hoon Karachi”, former cricket captain Shahid Afridi discussed several topics.
Talking about his decision to choose Shaheen Shah Afridi as a son-in-law for his daughter, Insha, Shahid Afridi said, “No father gives his daughter’s hand without careful thought. Shaheen had a good upbringing, and both our families knew each other well. However, after we moved to Karachi, we didn’t maintain much contact with Shaheen’s family, but the coaches under whom he played all praised him highly.”
Regarding the inquiry about Shaheen Afridi, Shahid Afridi explained, “An inquiry was indeed conducted. It’s important to do this when arranging a marriage, but for any relationship to thrive, both the boy and the girl must be good individuals, so we can raise a good generation for our country.”
When asked about becoming a grandfather, Shahid Afridi humorously replied, “I don’t consider myself a grandfather yet. When my fifth daughter gets married and has children, then I’ll accept that role.”
Shaheen Afridi, the national cricketer, married Shahid Afridi’s daughter Insha on February 3, 2023, and they welcomed their first son earlier this year.
