A school van caught fire on Thursday in Karachi’s Shah Faisal Colony, causing panic among the children on board and resulting in several injuries.
According to reports, the fire in the van is believed to have been caused by a short circuit. Residents rushed to rescue the children from the van. Many of the students were affected by smoke inhalation and were immediately taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
As per SSP Korangi, while the panic caused by the fire led to children getting affected, hospital sources confirmed that some children suffered burns on their faces, arms, and other parts of the body. Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control, and all the affected children are now safe. Authorities are continuing investigations into the incident.

Apart from the Shah Faisal incident, three other fire cases were reported in Karachi on Thursday morning.
In New Karachi, a fire broke out in a wooden warehouse near Nala Stop, while another blaze erupted in a garment warehouse near Godhra Muslim Hospital. In the Saddar area near Lucky Star, a residential flat’s geyser caught fire.
According to the fire brigade, the fire at the flat was controlled within half an hour using one fire tender, and no casualties were reported. The incident is believed to have been caused by a gas leak.
The fire at the garment warehouse near Godhra Muslim Hospital required four fire brigade vehicles and two hours of firefighting to be brought under control. While there were no human casualties, the blaze destroyed a large quantity of cloth and other materials.
