Concerns about the security of the country’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan have once again highlighted the controversial situation caused by the ongoing political tussle and rhetoric in Pakistan.
What happened was that Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah recently made a statement against Imran Khan that Imran Khan has taken politics to the point that now either he will stay or we will. Due to which anxiety and disorder was created in the society.
Readers are well aware that in the past, the PML-N-led PDM government had withdrawn Imran Khan’s security, putting his life in danger. So, it is understandable that he has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court for provision of security as a former PM. Self-protection is the right of every citizen and Imran Khan also has this right.
The Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court has issued notices to Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah as well as the Federal Government in this regard. This is a welcome move and highlights the importance of ensuring the safety of all citizens, especially those who have served the country in the past.
It is important to remember that Imran Khan is not only the former Prime Minister of Pakistan but also a national hero who led the country to victory in the 1992 Cricket World Cup. His services to the country are immense and the nation will always remember him. Therefore, providing adequate protection to him is not only a legal obligation but also a moral duty.
Safety and security of all citizens must be ensured, including the protection of politicians, national heroes and cricketers. Federal ministers and politicians should avoid making statements that create anxiety and tension in the society. In this regard, the decision of the Islamabad High Court is a positive step, from which it can be hoped that the security of Imran Khan will be restored soon.
