WAZIRISTAN: A notorious terrorist linked to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was killed by Security forces during an operation conducted in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district on Sunday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an area Sanitisation Operation was conducted in the Dewagar area of the former tribal district on reports of terrorists’ presence.
During intense exchange of fire, terrorist Zahidud Din, resident of Dewagar was killed, the military’s media wing said. It further said that the terrorist Zahidud Din was an active member of TTP in the Dewagar and Kharseen areas.
The accused was remained actively involved in target killings, terrorist activities against security forces, extortion and planting IEDs, ISPR said.
Earlier, a terrorist named Ashrafullah alias Toofani, also a member of TTP, was killed in a similar operation on Saturday. Separately, security forces conducted two intelligence-based operations (IBOs), killing at least eight terrorists including three commanders of TTP in North Waziristan on March 6.
“These terrorists remained involved in terrorist activities against security forces, law enforcement agencies and locals of the area since 2009 including IED attacks, firing, target killing, kidnapping for ransom and extortion,” ISPR said.
On February 4, security forces killed four terrorists during a similar operation in North Waziristan. The operation was conducted after the security forces observed the presence of the terrorists in a compound in North Waziristan’s Mir Ali area, the military’s media wing said.
