Section 144 has been imposed in Islamabad on Saturday ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) peaceful protests over the rigging of the recently concluded general elections.
In a post on X, the Islamabad Police said that patrolling has been increased at the Islamabad Capital Territory and checking has been tightened at all checkpoints.
“Citizens should carry necessary identification documents while traveling and cooperate with the police during checking,” the police said, adding that there might be heavy traffic towards F-Nine Park, “So citizens should avoid unnecessary travel in this direction.”
On Saturday PTI organized protest demonstrations across the country including the capital city.
The protest continues while police have started arresting PTI leaders and workers in different cities. Party leader Salman Akram Raja has been arrested from Lahore. He was leading a protest rally outside the party office in the provincial capital.
