KARACHI: On the directives of Sindh Minister for Information, Local Government, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Secretary Local Government Roshan Ali Shaikh presided over an important meeting to review the steps being taken control the incidents of dog bites in the metropolis.
The concerned officials informed the meeting that the campaign against controlling the stray dogs is continuing and being monitored constantly at districts as well as the union council s level.
It was also informed that the availability of the anti-rabies vaccine had also been ensured in the hospital in all the districts and zonal centers.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Local Government Roshan Ali Shaikh directed that in accordance with the directives of Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah all the preventive and safety measures should be ensured to control the dog population in the city.
The Secretary said that the help of all the stakeholders should be sought in this regard. Secretary Local government also suggested a joint strategy in order to build a legal framework for the Rabies control program.
He also told about the consideration of collaboration proposals with Indus Hospital and other health facilities to make the campaign a success.
Speaking about the media strategy Roshan Ali Shaikh instructed to start a result-oriented and well-planned media campaign for creating a sense of awareness about rabies amongst the people.
Secretary Local Government urged to vaccinate the workers and volunteers taking part in the noble cause on a priority basis. He stressed the members of the committee to keep the livestock department onboard throughout the campaign.
MPA Nadir Magsi, Dr. A.D Sajnani, Special Secretary Local Government S.M Taha, Additional Secretary Zahid Khemtio, representatives of DMCs and Cantonment Board were also present during the meeting.
