The Punjab government has announced changes to school timings in Lahore ahead of the winter season. Starting from October 1, 2024, the new schedule will affect around 1,300 primary and secondary government schools in the city.
Previously, single-shift schools opened at 8:00 AM and dismissed students at 1:30 PM from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, classes ended earlier at noon. With the new timings, schools will start at 7:45 AM, providing an earlier start to the day.
The dismissal time of 1:30 PM will remain the same for the weekdays, while Friday schedules will continue to see an early closure at noon.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz recently ordered the immediate closure of schools operating in unsafe and deteriorating buildings across the province.
The relevant officials have been directed to inspect all school buildings across the province. Any structures deemed structurally compromised will be sealed promptly to ensure the safety of students.
