KARACHI: Taking the notice of reports regarding illegal construction published on MM TV News, Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has initiated severe action against illegal constructions in Karachi.
According to sources, the SBCA teams conducted major operations in various parts of the metropolis against builders, who were allegedly involved in illegal construction despite COVID-19 lockdown.
Sources further said during an operation in Karachi’s Nazimabad area construction contractors and laborers were detained by the police. Police also have registered FIRs against the arrested people in Rizvia Society police station.
Meanwhile, Sindh Building Control Authority officials have constituted a committee to stop illegal construction during lockdown in the metropolis.
Special Secretary Local Government Jamaluddin and SBCA senior Director, Sarfaraz will lead the committee.
According to a report published MM News, Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) officials are allegedly receiving enormous amount of bribe to conceal the information regarding illegally constructed buildings in the metropolis city.
SBCA officials had also fixed the bribe rates for concealing the information regarding illegally constructed buildings from Supreme Court.
Sources had claimed that the SBCA officials were receiving Rs 5 lakh for constructing the third floor illegally, and Rs 10 to 15 lakh for the fourth floor.
Sources had revealed that Memon State Agency in Liaquatabad (B-One) area was illegally constructing fourth-floor on a 120-yard plot.
Earlier, the Supreme Court of Pakistan had directed the concerned authorities to take action against builders and demolish the illegally constructed buildings across the city.
