The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has de-sealed a dental clinic owned by former President Arif Alvi in Karachi, following directives from the Sindh High Court (SHC).
According a report by ARY News, citing sources on Wednesday, located in the Sindhi Muslim Cooperative Housing Society (SMCHS), the clinic was sealed by the SBCA on October 3, 2024, citing violations of building regulations for operating in a residential area.
However, Arif Alvi’s son, Awaab Alvi, challenged the move in the SHC, claiming it was an act of political retaliation. The petition, presented by Barrister Ali Tahir, argued that the clinic had been operational for years and was sealed without prior notice, making the action unlawful.
The SHC ordered the SBCA to lift the seal, enabling the clinic to resume operations.
Earlier in the day, the former Pakistan president and PTI leader secured protective bail in three terrorism-related cases filed in Mianwali, Taxila, and Rawalpindi. The bail was granted against a surety bond of Rs. 50,000.
Alvi’s legal team has maintained that these actions against him are politically motivated, with opponents making baseless excuses and false allegations to damage the goodwill of the former President of Pakistan amid political rivalry.
