RIYADH: The custodian of the two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Muhammad bin Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud expressed their deepest sorrow over deaths of passengers in the Tezgam Express inferno.
The cable sent by King Salman said,” We have been informed about the news of the fire that broke out on one of the trains in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, resulting in deaths and injuries. We call Allah Almighty to bestow his mercy on the deceased, and wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
On the other hand, the Crown Prince also shared condolences to President, Dr. Arif Alvi and the families who have lost their loved ones. He said that may the Almighty shower his mercy on the deceased. He also wished a quick recovery to the injured of the incident.
The Saudi embassy in Islamabad has also expressed grief over the loss of precious lives in the unfortunate fire incident.
Earlier on Thursday morning, At least 73 people were killed and several injured when the fire broke out in three bogies of Tezgam Express at Liaquatpur in Rahim Yar Khan. The train was traveling to Rawalpindi from Karachi when it caught fire due to explosion in one of the gas cylinders. The fire engulfed three train carriages in no time.
The first funeral of 74 deceased of Tezgam Express fire took place on Friday.
The dead bodies were arrived at Bismillah Mosque from the site of the incident where the funeral was held.
42 people who died in the unfortunate fire incident were belonged to the mosque. They boarded on the train to attend a religious gathering near Lahore.
