On World Creativity and Innovation Day, Saudia – the national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia – has introduced “The Coolest Ihram,” the world’s first technologically advanced Ihram garment designed to help regulate body temperature during the Islamic rituals of Hajj and Umrah.
Conceptualized by Saudia, developed in collaboration with global brand transformation company Landor, and engineered by U.S.-based cooling fabric innovator brrr®, this groundbreaking garment incorporates patented cooling minerals, active moisture-wicking, and rapid-drying features.
These innovations work together to reduce skin temperature by approximately 1 to 2°C, depending on environmental conditions and individual metabolism.
Designed in full accordance with Islamic Ihram requirements for both men and women, the Coolest Ihram also offers UPF 50+ sun protection. Its advanced, athletic-grade materials create a cooler personal microclimate, enhancing comfort and endurance for pilgrims undertaking the physically demanding rites of Hajj and Umrah.
The unveiling of this innovation comes as the Kingdom prepares for the upcoming Hajj season, reinforcing its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of pilgrims.
The Coolest Ihram will be made available to Saudia passengers starting June 2025. Further information regarding distribution and availability will be announced in the coming weeks.
