The holy month of Ramadan will begin in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, 18 February 2026, after the Ramadan moon was officially sighted.
Following an appeal by the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia, moon-sighting meetings were held across the Kingdom.
For the first time, modern technology was utilised alongside traditional methods to observe the crescent.
A major gathering took place at Hautat Sudair, while similar meetings were convened at seven other locations across Saudi Arabia. Experts from the meteorological and astronomical departments also participated in the process.
The Supreme Court subsequently confirmed that 1 Ramadan 1447 Hijri will fall on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.
Meanwhile, the moon was not sighted in Malaysia and Turkey, where authorities have announced that Ramadan will commence on 19 February.
Similarly, Singapore, Brunei, Australia, and Oman will also begin observing Ramadan on 19 February.
