LAHORE: Former Punjab governor and PTI leader Chaudhry Sarwar on Sunday heavily criticized the PTI leadership and former chief minister Usman Buzdar, saying appointing Buzdar as CM was the biggest conspiracy.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore hours after he was sacked, he said that following Imran Khan’s election as prime minister, there were several options for the office of chief minister of Punjab, including Aleem Khan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and Fawad Choudhry. But the prime minister believed that only Usman Buzdar could build the Naya Pakistan and other party leaders compromised, he said.
He said that the entire country saw that chaos ensued in Punjab after Buzdar Became CM.
The former governor said that all PTI workers complained to us about whether this was the Pakistan that we wanted where the chief secretary and inspector general are changed every three months. Keeping aside everyone’s reservations, he vowed to stand behind the prime minister, he added.
To a question, he said that said if there is an international conspiracy against the incumbent government then it was electing Buzdar as Chief Minister of Punjab.
Earlier today, the federal government removed Chaudhry Sarwar from his post as Punjab governor, appointing Omer Sarfraz Cheema as his replacement.
The announcement also came hours before a crucial session of the National Assembly on the no-confidence motion against PM Imran as well as a sitting of the Punjab Assembly to elect a new leader of the house following Buzdar’s resignation.
