A new milestone has been set in the world of cricket as Indian opener Rohit Sharma has broken Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi’s long-standing record for the most sixes in One Day Internationals (ODIs).
According to details, former Indian captain Rohit Sharma surpassed Afridi’s tally of 351 sixes by smashing his 352nd six, moving to the top of the global ODI six-hitting rankings. He achieved this feat during the first ODI against South Africa.
In the 20th over of the match, Rohit Sharma hit his historic 352nd six, overtaking Afridi’s world record. Indian cricket fans applauded the achievement with great enthusiasm.
Notably, Afridi had set his record over 369 innings, while Rohit surpassed it in only 269 innings, breaking it 100 innings earlier.
Earlier in the match, Rohit Sharma opened the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal but returned to the pavilion early. Later, Rohit and Virat Kohli built a partnership of over 100 runs, shifting the momentum in India’s favour. Rohit scored 57 runs off 51 balls before being dismissed.
With this new record, Rohit Sharma has cemented his place as one of the most powerful hitters in the ODI format.
