Amid a surge of misinformation, Australian travel YouTuber Luke Damant has clarified that he is alive and well, debunking widespread rumors that falsely claimed he had died in Afghanistan.
The rumors, which began circulating online, alleged that the Aussie YouTuber had been “pronounced dead in Jalalabad” after reportedly disappearing three weeks earlier upon entering the country.
Damant, a travel blogger known for exploring South Asia, including Pakistan, had last shared updates about being in Abbottabad at the beginning of December.

In a lighthearted response to the situation, Damant posted a mock obituary on his social media, humorously addressing the unfounded claims. He expressed astonishment at the scale of the rumors, stating, “Guys, I’m f****ng chilling!” and explained that he had simply taken a break for the New Year.
This incident serves as a reminder to approach online information critically, particularly sensational claims found in random YouTube videos or blog posts. Not everything on the internet should be taken at face value.
