Prominent public and religious poet Syed Salman Gilani has passed away.
Born in 1951 in Lahore, he was widely recognised for his distinctive style in ghazal, naat and satirical poetry.
His work often explored themes of love, sorrow, social issues and public satire, earning him considerable popularity among audiences.
He was the son of Syed Amin Gilani, a respected poet known for his contributions to political and national movements through his poetry.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Salman Gilani carried forward the family’s literary legacy and achieved notable acclaim in both religious and public poetry.
Gilani frequently appeared on various news channels, and his poetry enjoyed particular popularity among female audiences. He had been unwell for some time due to multiple health complications and had recently undergone bypass surgery.
Throughout his career, Syed Salman Gilani participated in numerous mushairas, literary gatherings, political and public rallies, as well as religious assemblies, establishing a distinct place for himself through his unique style of expression.
