KARACHI: Renowned religious scholar and head of Jamia Binoria in Karachi Mufti Muhammad Naeem, was laid to rest today (Sunday).
According to details, a large number of people including his students and scholars attended the funeral prayers. His funeral prayers were led by Mufti Taqi Usmani.
Many notable figures including MQM’s Farooq Sattar, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, and Maulana Rashid Soomro attended the funeral. He was buried alongside his father at the Jamia Binoria Al-Aalmia cemetery.
Following the burial, talking to media, Qari Usman of the JUI-F said that students from more than 60 countries had been coming to Mufti Naeem’s madrassah to seek religious knowledge.
Meanwhile, Farooq Sattar said, “His services for unity between people of various religions will always be remembered.” He added that the void he had left behind will not be an easy one to fill.
The famous scholar had passed away a day earlier following a heart attack. Mufti Naeem had reportedly been ill for the past several days.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed profound sorrow and regret over the scholar’s demise, praying for his ranks to be elevated in heaven.
President Arif Alvi also expressed deep sorrow over the renowned scholar’s passing. Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, too, condoled the death of renowned religious scholar.
