Relatives of Pakistanis imprisoned in Bahrain hold protest

ISLAMABAD: Relatives of Pakistanis, imprisoned in Bahrain, staged a demonstration in front of the National Press Club today (Monday) against the ‘illegal’ confinement of their family members in India.

According to details, the protesters believe that their dear ones had been imprisoned in Bahraini jails for many years but the reasons behind their confinement were not being declared.

The protestors informed that earlier on the request of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Special Assistant Zulfi Bukhari, the Bahrain government released 175 prisoners, and now only 45 prisoners were remaining.

They further claimed that the imprisoned Pakistanis were being persecuted there, and the Pakistani embassy in Bahrain was also not cooperating.

The relatives of the Pakistani prisoners have appealed to the Prime Minister to direct the Foreign Office to take up the matter of their detention with Bahrain.
