RAWALPINDI: The district police today (Sunday) claimed to have arrested a man over beating a minor maid employed at his house in Rawalpindi.
The incident from the Westridge area came to light when the victim approached a neighbour seeking his help after she was physically assaulted by Qadeer who was later arrested.
According to details, the accused, Qadeer along with his wife, thrashed the housemaid with sticks and then cut her hair off. The girl belongs to Jaranwala and has been working with Qadeer’s family for the past two years.
His wife also used to beat the victim and a police official claimed that there were burn marks on her right hand. “We are verifying these claims,” the spokesperson added.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under section 328A against the arrested accused, while Qadeer has been sent to judicial custody by a court.
A number of cases of abuse and torture of child maids have emerged in the past year throughout the country. On Saturday, Police claimed to have arrested a man and his wife over beating a minor girl. Reportedly, the victim worked as a maid at a home located in Eden Valley Society.
The minor maid, employed at a house on Canal Road in Eden Valley house society, was viciously beaten by the family over a minor dispute. The ordeal was recorded by the CCTV camera of another house.
