ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Narcotics Control Shehryar Afridi on Wednesday defended the decision to file a narcotics case against Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah.
While addressing a press conference in Islamabad a day after the bail was granted to the former provincial minister by the Lahore High Court (LHC) the minister alleged that Rana Sanaullah’s legal team was adopting delaying strategy in the narcotic trafficking case.
Shehryar Afridi shielded the decision to file drugs case against the Rana Sanaullah’s “After the bail a perception was shaped in the press that Rana Sanaullah was guiltless,” he said.
He said “Rana Sanaullah has not been acquitted by the court.” He added “There’s a lot of talk in the media about video evidence,” He admired that the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) is a professional force of the country. He also explained that he did not speak about the issue earlier as he was out of the country.
He said “used the word footages in his press conferences and not video.”It is worth to mention here that Shehryar Afridi, in the upshot of Sanaullah’s nab, had constantly defended the Anti-Narcotic Force police, claiming to have “pictures and video record” and saying that Sanaullah’s car was monitored for three weeks before he was apprehended.
