KARACHI: The Sindh government has declared today a public holiday across Sindh, including Karachi, in observance of Quds Day. To manage road closures, the city’s traffic police have released a comprehensive traffic plan.
From 12 noon, various roads will close to facilitate the observance. Both routes from Boat Basin to Jinnah Bridge and Mai Kalachi will be among those affected. Additionally, the pathways from PIDC to Jinnah Bridge and MT Khan Road will also be shut down. Traffic heading from Boat Basin to Mai Kalachi will be redirected with U-turns.
According to the traffic police’s directives, vehicles flowing from PIDC to Jinnah Bridge will be rerouted towards Khajur Chowk, while traffic coming from the Jinnah Bridge will be directed towards II Chandrigarh Road. Drivers are advised to avoid MA Jinnah Road after Friday prayers to help ease congestion.
For those traveling from Teen Hatti to Tower, they can utilize the route through Guru Mandir to Soldier Bazaar or take Corridor Three. Additionally, citizens going from Eidgah Chowk to the exhibition should access the route from Tibet Chowk to Empress Market.
Traffic coming from Dawood Puta Road and Lucky Star will likewise be redirected to PP Chowrangi and Regal Chowk. Authorities urge the public to avoid unnecessary travel due to increased petrol and diesel prices and the anticipated traffic challenges.
