The Meteorological Department has forecasted continued rainfall across Punjab until October 8, with thunderstorms and strong winds expected throughout the province.
In an official announcement, the department specified that cities including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, and Hafizabad are likely to experience rain.
Starting October 6, additional areas such as Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, and Bhakkar are also expected to receive rain accompanied by strong winds.
Director General Irfan Ali Kathia of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has instructed district coordination officers and local administrations across Punjab to stay on alert.
The PDMA control room will closely monitor developments, and rescue teams, including the 1122 service, are on standby with essential equipment and personnel. Kathia emphasized the importance of quickly draining water from flood-prone areas and advised the public to take precautions by staying away from electric poles and exposed wires.
