Punjab has introduced a QR-based Panic Button system to enhance passenger safety and strengthen emergency response across the province’s public transport network.

The initiative has been rolled out by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Digital Punjab program, aiming to integrate public transport vehicles with the province’s digital safety infrastructure.

QR Panic Buttons will be installed in buses, vans, rickshaws, taxis, and other public transport vehicles.  The system was developed in-house, ensuring no additional financial burden on the government. Passengers can scan the QR Panic Button to access details about the vehicle, owner, and driver. Features include emergency call, location sharing, vehicle verification, and police response. Travelers can share these details with their families at the start of their journey for added security.
