Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari stated that under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, no theater will be allowed to become a hub of obscenity.
According to details, the Punjab Information Minister held an important meeting with theater owners and organizers, where she clearly outlined the government’s policy.
She emphasized that the theaters in Punjab should produce plays that families can watch and that these plays should focus on social issues, providing guidance to the public.
She further stated that theater owners and actors who are interested in spreading obscenity will not be allowed to perform in Punjab.
Historically, theaters in Punjab have been known for their unique identity, and those turning them into centers of obscenity will no longer have a place in the industry.
Azma Bukhari announced that the Punjab government would soon introduce new legislation for theaters. She assured that family-friendly plays would receive full government support.
She mentioned that all theaters were being given a final warning. Any theater that violates the rules will receive a show-cause notice, followed by fines and, ultimately, the cancellation of their license.
Expressing strong displeasure at the spread of indecency in theaters, Azma Bukhari declared a lifetime ban on actresses promoting obscenity in Punjab.
She also stated that theaters involved in spreading indecency would have their licenses revoked.
