LAHORE: The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) is reported to have arrested at least eight suspected terrorists during raids conducted across various districts of Punjab.
The detained individuals included members of the proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban and Daesh.
According to details released to media on Saturday, the CTD during these raids confiscated explosive material, hand grenades, and propaganda material from the arrested terrorists. Among the militants arrested, Akhtar Nawaz, a member of TTP, and Muhammad Usman, who belonged to Daesh, were apprehended from Lahore.
In addition, the CTD arrested four militants from Gujranwala, one from Dera Ghazi Khan, and another from Bahawalpur. The six arrested militants were identified as Fawad Ullah, Faqir Muhammad, Asif Nawaz, Ziaur Rehman, Ateeq Ahmad, and Bashir. All the arrested terrorists belong to different militant outfits.
To further strengthen the case against the militants, the CTD registered six FIRs against them under anti-terrorism laws. The arrests are considered a significant achievement in the ongoing fight against terrorism and to maintain law and order in the province.
