The Punjab Environment Department has imposed a ban on washing cars at home. A fine of Rs10,000 will be imposed for washing a car at home. The department has issued a notification to implement the Lahore High Court’s order.
According to a report by Samaa News on Thursday, the Lahore High Court has ordered a ban on washing cars at home. In compliance with the court order, the Punjab Environment Department has enforced this ban.
The Environment Department states that there will be a fine of Rs10,000 for washing a car at home and for using a pipe for washing. The department has also issued directives for water conservation, ordering the immediate closure of all illegal service stations.
A fine of Rs100,000 will be imposed on service stations operating without a water recycling system. The government has ordered all service stations across Punjab to install a water recycling system by February 28.
The Punjab Environment Department has also banned washing cars with any type of oil. Additionally, the use of groundwater at construction sites has been prohibited. According to the notification, all these restrictions will be enforced immediately under the Punjab Environmental Act.
The Punjab Environment Department stated that the province has experienced 42% less rainfall over the past five years, raising concerns about water scarcity.
