ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) women wing Islamabad organized a walk to create awareness among women about breast cancer.
PTI women wing President Neelam Toro, general secretary, city president and others led the walk. While addressing the participants, Neelam pointed out the lack of awareness about breast cancer was causing the loss of women’s lives in Pakistan and called for enhanced awareness to check the disease.
The females could protect themselves from the lethal disease by conducting their self-assessment and instead of feeling shy they should prefer its treatment, she added.
“The womenfolk within the age bracket of 50 to 70 years were more vulnerable, however, recent researches showed that it was also detected in young women, which was a matter of great concern,” Neelam added.
Neelam said that awareness about any disease could be helpful in treatment, adding that early diagnosis can save lives. She appreciated the government for declaring October as a month of creating awareness about breast cancer.
It will help women in urban as well as rural areas to overcome such big issues, Neelam added. She appealed to the women to consult doctors immediately after noticing abnormal growth in armpits or breasts. She also urged all district office bearers to contribute and organise such campaigns in their respective areas.
