Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser on Tuesday reiterated the party’s demand for the release of arrested workers, highlighting that this issue was raised during ongoing discussions with the government, as reported by national media.
“During dialogues with the government, we emphasized the release of our workers. The ball is now in their court; let’s see what decision they make,” Qaiser said during a media briefing, as reported by ARY News.
He noted that the state of human rights in Pakistan has drawn significant international attention, particularly from the Western world. The PTI leader urged the Chief Justice to address what he termed as ‘human rights violations’ and stressed the importance of unity among lawyers, saying, “Lawyers must stand together.”
Qaiser also called for an open trial regarding the events of May 9. He mentioned that PTI’s founder ties his own release from jail to the release of party workers.
Addressing foreign policy, Qaiser underscored the need for reassessment and proposed negotiations to resolve issues with Afghanistan. He suggested forming a jirga to tackle these challenges.
Earlier, the Peshawar High Court extended Asad Qaiser’s interim bail in three cases until January 30. Justice Kamran Hayat Miankhel presided over the hearing.
Qaiser’s lawyer informed the court about securing interim bail in 11 other cases and requested additional time due to the large number of cases against him. The court directed Qaiser to appear before the relevant courts by January 30.
