To support the legitimate and secure use of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) by freelancers, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a new registration process. This initiative allows freelancers to register their VPNs using their mobile phone numbers, enabling seamless operations for those who don’t have static IP addresses.
The new system aims to simplify the VPN registration process for the IT industry, ensuring uninterrupted access to VPN services for freelancers using mobile data connections. Since its introduction, over 31,000 VPNs have been successfully registered by the PTA.
This move follows last month’s streamlining of the VPN registration process for organizations and freelancers. Now, software houses, call centers, banks, embassies, and freelancers can easily register their VPNs online through the PTA’s official website.
Freelancers will still need to provide proof of their project or company affiliation and an IP address for connectivity. Those using a fixed IP address can obtain it through their internet service provider.
