PSX rebounds strongly erasing Thursday’s gloom as index tops 183000

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange witnessed a remarkable surge less than an hour into Friday’s session, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index climbing by 1,754 points to reach 183,013.84 at 09:45 am.

The rally marks a sharp reversal from Thursday’s selling pressure, as investors returned in force to snap up bargains across sectors.

Trading activity was exceptionally strong, with volumes exceeding 140 million shares and a turnover of more than Rs 5.7 billion in under an hour. Market breadth was overwhelmingly positive, with 335 companies advancing against 81 decliners, while 148 remained unchanged. The All Share Index, KSE-30, KMI-30, and BKTI also posted robust gains, each rising close to or above one percent.

Analysts noted that the rebound reflects renewed investor confidence, driven by aggressive buying in energy, banking, and industrial counters. The breadth and depth of the rally suggest that sentiment has shifted decisively, with investors positioning ahead of the weekend despite lingering geopolitical concerns and elevated global oil prices.

The sharp recovery underscores the resilience of local equities, highlighting how quickly momentum can swing in response to bargain-hunting and improved risk appetite. The turnaround also signals that Thursday’s dip may have been more of a temporary shock than a sustained trend, as the market now appears to be regaining its footing.
