The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) fell by more than 200 points on Thursday, reversing early gains as selling pressure emerged during the trading session.
At close, the KSE-100 settled at 180,104.61 points, a decline of 206.60 points, or 0.11%, from the previous close.
Selling was witnessed across major sectors, including cement, commercial banks, fertiliser, oil marketing companies (OMCs) and power generation. Heavyweight stocks such as HUBCO, Mari, and OGDC, closed in negative territory.
On Wednesday, the PSX staged a recovery as investors returned to buying after two consecutive sessions of profit-taking. Market sentiment also received a boost towards the close following reports of an extension to the US-Iran ceasefire.
The benchmark index ended Wednesday’s session at 180,311.22 points.
Meanwhile, global oil prices declined by more than $1 on Thursday after forecasters cut their 2026 global oil demand projections amid disruptions linked to the US-Israeli war on Iran. However, supply constraints stemming from the conflict continued to provide some support to prices.
Brent crude futures fell $1.29, or 1.5%, to $87.69 a barrel by 0100 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude declined $1.30, or 1.6%, to $81.97 a barrel.
