RAWALPINDI: Citizens have demanded government authorities to play a proactive role in providing quality essential items to the people at reasonable prices at Ramazan sasta bazaars established in different areas of Rawalpindi.
According to details, citizens demanded the government to provide quality goods to the people at reasonable prices at Ramazan sasta bazaars set up at Allama Iqbal Park Double Road in Rawalpindi. In an exclusive interview with MM News, the citizens who came to the bazaar complained about the shortage of sugar and other food items.
Citizens complained that they would stand in line for hours to get two kilograms of sugar. “Similarly, a ten-kilogram bag of flour is also found in the lines. A family is not given more than two bags of flour while the quality of flour is not good,” they said.
Talking to MM News, a citizen said, “In the sasta bazaar the rate list has not been displayed by the government and the administration. Shopkeepers are charging their own rates,” he alleged.
They said, “There is no check and balance. At the same rate, good and quality food items are being obtained from the general market. We have come to shop from far-flung areas so that we can get quality items from here but there are medium quality items kept here,” they added.
Another citizen said that when they asked the shopkeepers for the rate list, the shopkeepers fight with them. Instead of giving relief to the people in Ramadan, the self-esteem of the people is being undermined, the citizen regretted.
The people said that the government of Punjab and the district administration of Rawalpindi should ensure the provision of quality goods to the people with facilities and special teams should be appointed for check and balance in this blessed month of Ramadan.
